About the author - Jude Thomas
Jude's a southern girl, and her Dunedin hometown has a great history. The early Scottish settlers nicknamed it 'The Edinburgh of the South', Dùn Èideann being the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh.
Jude loves living in Aotearoa-New Zealand and her favourite place is the southern province of Central Otago, which features in Book 1 Southern Gold - it's where her family spent many holidays when she was a child. Even when she's not there, Jude can still smell the wild thyme and feel the shimmering summer heat. Today, vineyards that produce excellent wine have replaced much of the thyme and tussock land. When she's not sampling it, or reading and writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and her rescue pets.
Jude takes some time to write her novels because she keeps going down research rabbit holes. She enjoys the 'sliding doors' effect: wondering what might have been and bringing seemingly insignificant events to life. As well as historical fiction, Jude writes award-winning short stories.
