About the author - Jude Thomas

I’m a southern girl, and my hometown Dunedin has a great history. It was nicknamed 'The Edinburgh of the South', as Dùn Èideann is the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh.
I now live at the opposite end of the country from my southern hometown: Mangawhai on the north-eastern coast. I love living in Aotearoa-New Zealand and while it's geographically near the bottom of the world, news and views (and climate change) are current. My favourite place is the southern province of Central Otago, which features in Book 1 Southern Gold - it's where my family spent many holidays when I was a child. Even when I'm not there, I can still smell the wild thyme and feel the shimmering summer heat. Today, much of the thyme and tussock land has been replaced by vineyards that produce excellent wine. When I'm not sampling it, or reading and writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and little rescue cat, Willow.
I'm a slow writer, because I keep going down research rabbit holes. I enjoy the 'sliding doors' effect: wondering what might have been and bringing seemingly-insignificant events to life. There are many possibilities for further stories in The Gold Series, so do contact me about your favourite characters and what you'd like to know about their future.
