KIA ORA - GREETINGS

I'm a 'southern girl' and my hometown, Dunedin, has a great colonial history.

Like many Kiwis, I've lived and worked abroad, but Aotearoa New Zealand is home to me. My favourite place is the southern district of Central Otago, where I spent many happy holidays as a child. Even when not there, I can still smell the wild thyme and feel the shimmering summer heat. Today, vineyards and fruit orchards spread across the spectacular landscape that originally hosted tussock and bracken.

When I'm not sampling Central Otago's world class pinot noir, I enjoy spending time with my family and rescue animals, and now live at the northern coastal town of Mangawhai.

As a social historian, I get excited when unravelling lesser-known stories about the past. It's the sliding-door theory - what would have happened if a character or situation was five minutes distance away? So many doors still to open - so many stories still to tell!
